External motion detector SATEL OPAL GY Grey — SATEL OPAL outdoor passive infrared sensor

The External motion detector SATEL OPAL GY Grey is an outdoor passive infrared sensor designed for perimeter and exterior space protection. The device senses motion by detecting changes in infrared radiation emitted by warm objects, enabling reliable detection of people or animals approaching a protected area. The grey housing is intended for discreet installation on building facades or poles and is suitable for residential, commercial and small industrial applications where outdoor motion detection is required.

Advantages

The SATEL OPAL GY Grey combines weather-resistant construction with a passive infrared detection system to provide stable operation in outdoor conditions. Its compact design and neutral colour make it easy to integrate into the exterior of buildings without drawing attention. The detector is designed to minimise false alarms by focusing on infrared changes within its coverage zone, providing targeted perimeter protection. Installation and wiring are straightforward, and the device is compatible with common alarm control panels and external alarm systems.

Suitable for

• Perimeter protection around homes and apartment buildings
• Monitoring of building facades and entrances
• Protection of small commercial premises and retail storefronts
• Outdoor areas around warehouses and small industrial facilities
• Detection zones mounted on poles for garden and yard coverage

Key specifications

• Sensor type: passive infrared (PIR)
• Designed use: outdoor / exterior perimeter detection
• Housing colour: grey for discreet installation
• Construction: weather-resistant enclosure suitable for facade or pole mounting
• Detection method: infrared radiation change detection for moving heat sources

How to use

Mount the SATEL OPAL GY Grey on a stable surface such as a wall or pole at the recommended height to ensure the desired coverage area. Aim the detector so that its field of view covers approaches and entry routes while minimising direct exposure to heat sources like air-conditioner exhausts or large reflective surfaces. Connect the detector wiring to the alarm control panel following the panel and detector wiring diagrams; verify compatibility and power requirements before connection. After installation, perform walk-tests across the detection zone to confirm reliable activation and adjust orientation if necessary.

Recommendations

Place the detector to cover likely approach paths and avoid pointing it at heat sources or areas with frequent animal traffic if pets are present. Regularly inspect the housing and lens for dirt, cobwebs or damage and clean gently with a soft, dry cloth. Test the detector periodically and after severe weather to ensure continued proper operation.
