The Fischer 568004 expansion anchor is a nylon screw anchor designed for fastening in a variety of base materials, including autoclaved aerated concrete, brick, concrete, gypsum fibre board and general masonry. This pack contains 200 anchors with a nominal diameter of 4 mm and an overall length of 20 mm. The anchor requires a 4 mm drill hole and is intended for use with wood, chipboard and stud screws to provide secure, load-bearing connections in construction and DIY applications.

Advantages

This 4 mm Fischer expansion anchor uses a multi-directional expansion mechanism to transfer forces reliably into both solid and perforated building materials, offering high holding values. Special fixing wings hold the screw in place during insertion so the user can work hands-free when setting anchors, which is useful for overhead work or single-person installation. The plug neck is designed to avoid surface expansion forces while screwing, reducing the risk of damage to tiles and plaster. Its profile and pronounced edge make the anchor simple to insert into the drill hole and prevent it from being pushed too far into the hole. The nylon construction provides durable performance and a clear tightening torque that helps prevent overtightening by indicating when the screw is properly seated.

Suitable for

  • Anchoring fixtures into autoclaved aerated concrete (AAC)
  • Fastening into brick and masonry
  • General concrete fixing tasks
  • Mounting into gypsum fibre board where permitted
  • Interior and light structural DIY fastening jobs

Key specifications

  • Anchor material: nylon
  • Anchor diameter: 4 mm
  • Anchor length: 20 mm
  • Required drill bit diameter: 4 mm
  • Pack quantity: 200 pieces
  • Compatible screw types: wood screws, chipboard screws, stud screws

How to use

Drill a hole with a 4 mm drill bit to the required depth, clean the hole of dust, then insert the nylon anchor until its pronounced edge sits flush with the surface. Use suitable screws (wood, chipboard or stud screws) of appropriate length — measured as anchor length plus fixture thickness plus the screw diameter — and drive the screw into the anchor. During insertion the fixing wings will hold the screw in place; as the screw is tightened the anchor expands in multiple directions and locks into the base material. Do not exceed recommended screw sizes and avoid excessive torque once the anchor provides firm resistance.

Recommendations

Choose screw diameter and length according to fixture thickness and the anchor length. For brittle surface finishes such as tiles or plaster, use the anchor’s expansion-free neck feature to minimize surface stress and avoid damage. For best performance, follow drilling and cleaning steps and select the appropriate screw type for the load and material.
