In daily use

Slide the protector over the bare fusion splice, position it centrally, and apply heat from 90°C to 120°C. The outer tube shrinks down to 3.5 mm diameter while the inner adhesive flows to encapsulate the fiber. Once cooled, the splice is protected from mechanical stress, humidity, and dust, and can be safely placed in splice trays or closures. The protector works with both single-mode and multi-mode fibers.
