The Brush Pen Staedtler Pigment Arts Greys & Caramels 6 pc set contains six brush-tip pens in a coordinated range of grey and brown tones designed for drawing, sketching and calligraphy. Each pen has a round housing for comfortable handling and a flexible brush tip that produces both fine lines and broader strokes. The set is supplied in a hanging box for easy storage and transport, offering consistent pigment-based ink flow suitable for layered shading, line work and application on paper and sketchbook surfaces.

Advantages

These Staedtler Pigment Arts brush pens deliver smooth, even ink flow with pigment-based pigments that resist feathering on typical drawing papers. The flexible brush tip lets users vary stroke width without changing tools, while the round barrel shape improves grip control during extended use. The curated palette of greys and caramels simplifies tonal studies and natural shading, making it easier to achieve depth and texture in monochrome and warm-toned illustrations.

How to use

Begin by testing the brush tip on scrap paper to learn how pressure affects line thickness. Use light pressure for thin hairlines and increase pressure for broader strokes. For shading and tonal transitions, apply multiple light layers of pigment, allowing brief drying time between passes to avoid over-saturation. When combining with other media, test compatibility on a similar paper type first to ensure the pigment ink does not react with wet paints or solvents.

Recommendations

Store pens horizontally or with caps securely closed to maintain ink flow and prevent drying. Use appropriate paper weight (preferably 120 g/m² or higher for mixed-media work) to minimize bleed-through and achieve optimal performance from the pigment ink. Replace caps after each use and keep away from extreme temperatures.
