be quiet! Pure Rock 2 Black CPU Air Cooler (BK007)

The be quiet! Pure Rock 2 Black (BK007) is a single-tower air CPU cooler engineered for silent, dependable performance in multimedia, office and gaming PCs. It pairs four 6 mm high-performance heat pipes using Heat Pipe Direct Touch technology with a brushed black aluminium fin stack and a quiet 120 mm Pure Wings 2 PWM fan, delivering up to 150 W of cooling capacity while staying virtually inaudible at a maximum of 26.8 dB(A).

Advantages

The asymmetrical heatsink is offset to keep the memory slots clear, so even tall RAM modules fit without conflict. The bundled Pure Wings 2 fan uses nine airflow-optimised blades and a durable rifle bearing for strong, focused airflow with minimal turbulence and noise. A practical top-mounting system lets you fasten the cooler from above the motherboard, making installation straightforward even inside a populated case.

Suitable for

• Silent multimedia, office and home PCs
• Mainstream gaming systems with CPUs up to 150 W TDP
• Builds where memory clearance and a clean all-black look matter
• Upgrading noisy or underperforming stock CPU coolers

Installation

Fit the universal mounting brackets to the matching backplate for your Intel or AMD socket, apply a thin, even layer of thermal paste to the CPU heat spreader, then secure the cooler from the top of the motherboard using the captive screws. Connect the fan to the CPU_FAN 4-pin PWM header so the motherboard can regulate fan speed automatically. Check heatsink clearance against the case side panel before closing the system.

Recommendations

For the quietest operation, set a PWM fan curve in the BIOS so the Pure Wings 2 fan only ramps up under load. Reapply thermal paste whenever you remove the cooler, keep the fins dust-free for sustained performance, and confirm your case supports the 155 mm tower height before purchase.
