We would like to respond openly to every negative review about us. Many are posted anonymously, so we cannot reach those customers directly. This open letter is our reply, and we would be grateful if you took a moment to read it.

But here is what a one-star review will never tell you:

The CTEK MXS 5.0 is a microprocessor-controlled 12V battery charger with automatic temperature compensation, designed for lead-acid batteries from 1.2 Ah up to 110 Ah and with maintenance capability for batteries up to 160 Ah. It provides diagnostics to determine battery condition, a patented desulphation step and a reconditioning mode to restore deeply discharged or stratified batteries. The unit supports an AGM option for Stop‑Start batteries and displays the entire process on a clear LED panel. The charger is splash- and dust-proof (IP65), compact and intended for safe, long‑term battery maintenance.

How to use

Connect the charger to mains (220–240 V) and attach the clamps or the supplied eyelet cables to the battery terminals following the polarity markings. Select SMALL BATTERY or NORMAL BATTERY program as required and enable RECOND or AGM options if recovery or AGM treatment is needed. The charger will automatically run diagnostics, charge through the 8-step program and switch to float/pulse maintenance when the battery is fully charged. Follow the LED display prompts and disconnect only after the charger indicates a completed or maintenance state.

Recommendations

Use the MXS 5.0 in dry or mildly wet environments consistent with IP65 rating; avoid immersion. For long-term storage, leave the charger connected in maintenance mode to prevent self-discharge. Do not attempt to charge batteries outside the specified 12V lead-acid types and follow vehicle manufacturer instructions when charging batteries fitted in vehicles with advanced electronics.
