The SN3001 series features a 64 KB port buffering to prevent data loss in case a network is down, and event notifications will be sent automatically by SMTP email and SNMP Trap when the serial devices go offline due to power failure, or trigger a user defined error. Moreover, the system event logs are available to record and track operation history, and can be saved to internal memory or Syslog server, so you can retrieve data for monitoring and troubleshooting at any time

How to use

Connect the RS-232 device to the SN3001P-AX serial port and attach the device to the Ethernet network via the 10/100Base-T(X) port. If using PoE, ensure the network switch provides PoE power; otherwise provide appropriate external power. Access the device through the web console for a guided 3-step setup or use the Telnet/SSH console for low-bandwidth environments. Configure operation mode (Real COM, TCP, Serial Tunneling, Console Management or UDP) and set security parameters such as 802.1x, TLS, and user authentication. Save system event logs to internal memory or a Syslog server and enable SMTP or SNMP Trap notifications for offline or error events.

Recommendations

For stable operation, mount the device using the method that matches your environment (wall, desktop, DIN rail, or rack with optional VE-RMK1U). Keep firmware up to date, enable encrypted authentication and network access control, and use the 64 KB buffer and event logging to assist monitoring and troubleshooting.
