How to use

For a corded setup, connect the scanner to your POS using the included auto-host detect cable; the interface is identified automatically. For cordless use, pair the DS2278 with your host device via Bluetooth following the on‑screen or manual pairing instructions. Aim the scanner at the barcode and pull the trigger or use the presentation mode (if configured) to read the code; omnidirectional scanning and PRZM decoding improve read success without precise orientation. Use Zebra’s 123Scan utility to generate configuration barcodes for bulk programming or to modify settings.

Recommendations

Use the cordless DS2278 in areas where staff need mobility and expect continuous scanning over a shift; use the corded option where uninterrupted power and permanent POS connection are required. Keep firmware and configuration updated with Zebra tools and avoid exposing the scanner to heavy dust or direct water jets despite its IP42 rating.
