Wood auger drill Bosch 2608597649, 26 mm diameter, 385 mm working length

Bosch wood auger drill 26 mm diameter with 385 mm working length is designed to drill clean, deep holes in solid wood and engineered timber. The long shank and spiral flute enable efficient chip removal during through-drilling and deep boring in beams, posts and thick panels. The central auger tip provides accurate centring and stable advance, while the cutting edges produce smooth hole walls with reduced tear-out. The shank fits standard drill chucks for use with hand-held and bench drills in carpentry, installation and repair tasks.

Advantages

The long working length allows access through thick elements without extensions, and the 26 mm cutting diameter is suitable for dowels, bolts and conduit passages. The auger tip and single-flute design evacuate chips effectively to maintain drilling stability and reduce clogging. Precision-ground cutting edges give consistent hole diameter and clean exit surfaces, lowering the need for additional finishing. Compatibility with standard chucks simplifies tool changes and mounting.

Suitable for

• Drilling deep through-holes in beams and posts
• Creating holes for dowels and wooden connectors
• Drilling clearance holes for bolts and fasteners in thick panels
• Site carpentry, joinery and installation work

Key specifications

• Cutting diameter: 26 mm
• Working length: 385 mm
• Tip type: auger/spiral tip for centring
• Flute design: single spiral flute for chip removal
• Material and finish: hardened steel cutting surfaces (factory standard for wood auger drills)
• Shank: compatible with standard drill chucks

How to use

Secure the auger drill in a compatible drill chuck and tighten firmly. Mark the drilling point and, if necessary, clamp the workpiece to prevent movement. Start at low speed to engage the auger tip and achieve accurate centring, then increase speed and apply steady axial pressure while allowing the flute to remove chips. For through-holes, withdraw periodically to clear chips if necessary. After drilling, retract the bit and inspect the hole for burrs; light sanding or a countersink can be used if a perfectly smooth finish is required.

Recommendations

Use appropriate personal protective equipment such as eye protection and gloves. Select drilling speed according to wood density—lower speeds for hardwoods—and avoid excessive pressure to prevent breakage. Keep the flute clear of large chip build-up and store the bit in a dry place to prevent corrosion.
