How to use

Switch on the moisture meter and allow the display to initialise. Place the sensor end of the meter firmly against the material surface to perform a spot measurement; ensure good contact and steady positioning during the reading. For wood, take multiple measurements across different boards or sections to determine average moisture content. For plaster, masonry or composite materials, test several locations including suspected damp areas to map moisture distribution. Record readings and compare them against the acceptable moisture ranges for the specific material before proceeding with installation or remediation.

Recommendations

Calibrate and verify the meter according to the manufacturer instructions if a calibration option is available, and allow the device to stabilise at ambient temperature before measurement. Avoid measuring through thick coatings, paints or surface contamination that may affect contact. When assessing water-damaged structures, combine spot readings with visible inspection and, if necessary, follow up with more detailed moisture assessment tools for a comprehensive evaluation.
