The Homematic IP interface for gas meters connects your gas meter to the Homematic IP system so you can view current and historical consumption data in the Homematic IP app. The device reads meter data via the standardized optical/data interface and transmits measurements to the app in real time, enabling continuous monitoring of household gas usage and integration with other smart-home functions.

How to use

Attach the magnetic sensor to the metal plate surrounding the meter’s optical/data interface (IEC 62056-21). Connect the sensor to the Homematic IP interface unit and follow the integration steps in the Homematic IP app to register and configure the device. Once integrated, the app displays live consumption values and stores measurement data for later review.

Recommendations

Install the sensor directly on the meter’s optical interface and verify protocol compatibility before installation. The device is not compatible with the Idis CII protocol used in some meters in Austria.
