Mounting rings SW for 150 mm Newton telescope SW-4407

Mounting rings SW for 150 mm Newton telescope SW-4407 are precision clamps designed to secure a 150 mm Newtonian optical tube to a dovetail bar or saddle on telescope mounts. They provide even pressure distribution around the tube, protect the finish from direct contact, and keep the optical axis aligned for observing and imaging. The rings are compatible with common equatorial and alt-azimuth mounts and suit both fixed installations and field setups.

Advantages

These mounting rings offer robust clamping with adjustable tightening to avoid deformation of the telescope tube while maintaining stable alignment. Padded contact surfaces reduce the risk of scratches and wear on the tube finish. The rings are straightforward to attach and detach, enabling quick setup and secure transport. Their design helps preserve collimation during movement and supports accessories such as guide scopes or carry handles when required.

Suitable for

• Securing a 150 mm Newtonian telescope tube to a dovetail bar or saddle
• Astrophotography setups on equatorial mounts
• Visual observation on alt-azimuth mounts
• Field use where reliable tube clamping and protection are needed

Key specifications

• Compatible tube diameter: 150 mm Newtonian optical tube
• Clamping style: Two-piece split ring with adjustable screws
• Contact protection: Padded or lined inner surfaces to prevent scratches
• Mount interface: Standard dovetail/saddle attachment
• Material: Durable metal construction for stable support

How to use

Place the lower half of a mounting ring under the telescope tube at the chosen balance point and fit the upper half over the tube. Align both halves and insert the clamping screws, tightening them incrementally and evenly to secure the tube without over-compression. Slide the dovetail into the mount saddle and lock the dovetail clamp according to the mount manufacturer’s instructions. Check balance and make minor adjustments to ring positions if necessary before final tightening.

Recommendations

Inspect and clean the padded contact surfaces regularly to remove grit that could scratch the tube. When transporting the telescope, use additional straps or a carrying case to reduce stress on the rings. Avoid excessive torque on the clamping screws; hand-tighten or use low-tension tools to preserve the tube shape and collimation.
