Salewa Wildfire 2 GTX Approach Shoe Men's Navy Blazer/Black UK 7 (EU 40.5)

For technical terrain where precision and protection are non-negotiable, the Wildfire 2 GTX sets itself apart with a climbing-focused fit and a GORE-TEX membrane that shrugs off wet rock and mud. Unlike bulkier hiking boots, this approach shoe keeps weight down to 395 g per shoe while delivering the edging power and smearing confidence of a dedicated mountain shoe.

Highlights

• GORE-TEX Extended Comfort lining: durably waterproof, breathable, and quick-drying
• Exa Shell over-injected 3D cage: wraps the foot for lateral stability and abrasion resistance
• Pomoca Speed MTN outsole: precise edging, reliable traction on rock and mixed terrain
• Salewa 3F System: connects instep, sole, and heel for a secure, flexible fit
• Climbing lacing extends to the toe: fine-tune fit for technical sections
• MFF+ footbed: customizable cushioning and arch support
• 11 mm drop with 28 mm heel / 17 mm toe stack: balanced for approach and scrambling

In daily use

The Wildfire 2 GTX feels at home on via ferrata, scree fields, and long approaches with a loaded pack. The breathable mesh upper and Exa Shell cage keep feet cool and protected, while the Ortholite footbed adds all-day comfort. The precise Alpine fit suits medium to narrow feet; if you prefer a roomier toe box, consider sizing up.
