Salewa Alp Trainer 2 GTX Women's Hiking Shoes - Black/Onyx - UK 6

On a misty morning in the Dolomites, a hiker laces up her Salewa Alp Trainer 2 GTX and steps onto a rocky trail still damp from overnight rain. The GORE-TEX® Extended Comfort lining keeps her feet dry through stream crossings, while the Vibram® Alpine Hiking outsole grips wet limestone with confidence. Designed for women who demand reliable performance on technical terrain, this shoe blends the protection of a mountain boot with the agility of a trail runner.

Why choose it

The Alp Trainer 2 GTX is built for all-day comfort and protection on demanding hikes. The 3F System connects the instep, sole, and heel for a secure, flexible fit, while the climbing lacing allows precise adjustment down to the toe. GORE-TEX® Extended Comfort offers optimised breathability for warmer conditions, keeping feet dry from both outside moisture and internal perspiration. The Vibram® outsole delivers reliable traction on rock, scree, and mixed terrain, and the Ortholite® footbed adds cushioning and moisture management.

Ideal use cases

• Day hikes and multi-day treks in alpine environments
• Technical approaches and via ferrata with light loads
• Wet and variable weather conditions where waterproofing is essential
• Hikers seeking a balance of support, protection, and agility

Good to know

Salewa recommends sizing up if between sizes, as the climbing lacing allows a customised fit. The suede and stretch fabric upper requires occasional care with a suitable proofer to maintain water repellency. The shoe is compatible with semi-automatic crampons for light alpine use, though it is not a full mountaineering boot. Regular cleaning and air-drying after use will extend the life of the GORE-TEX® membrane.
