Passive infrared sensor Brennenstuhl PIR 240

The Brennenstuhl PIR 240 is a wired passive infrared sensor designed to switch lamps automatically when motion is detected. Suitable for indoor and outdoor use, the unit has an IP44 rating and operates at 230 V. The compact white housing includes a corner attachment and can be adjusted both vertically and horizontally for optimal positioning.

Advantages

The sensor detects movement within a 240° angle and up to 12 m range, and supports a variety of lamps including incandescent, halogen, energy-saving bulbs and LED lamps. Its switching cycle is adjustable from 10 seconds to 4 minutes and the response brightness can be set between 10 and 150 lux. Maximum switching capacity is 1000 W for conventional bulbs, 300 W for energy-saving lamps and 100 W for LEDs.

How to use

Mount the sensor in the desired location using the supplied corner attachment or directly on a flat surface. Aim and adjust the sensor vertically and horizontally to cover the required detection zone. Connect to a 230 V supply and to the lighting circuit following local electrical regulations or have a qualified electrician perform the installation. Set the required time delay (10 s–4 min) and response brightness (10–150 lux) to match the operating conditions and usage needs.

Recommendations

For reliable detection, install the sensor at a height and angle that avoids direct exposure to sources of heat or moving foliage. Use the brightness setting to prevent unwanted switching during daylight while keeping sensitivity high enough for night-time activation. Observe the lamp type and maximum switching capacity to avoid overloading the sensor.
