Network Expansion Module Sophos XSAZTCHC8 – 4×1000Base-T PoE, 4×1000Base-T

The Network Expansion Module Sophos XSAZTCHC8 expands compatible Sophos network systems with additional gigabit ports and integrated Power over Ethernet (PoE). This compact module provides four 1000Base-T PoE ports alongside four non-PoE 1000Base-T ports, enabling increased port density without replacing the existing device. It is designed for small offices, branch locations and collaboration environments that require additional wired connections and PoE power delivery for devices such as IP phones, wireless access points and security cameras.

Advantages

This expansion module adds four PoE-enabled gigabit ports and four additional gigabit ports in a single module, simplifying network growth. It supports standard 1000Base-T connectivity for full-duplex gigabit links and supplies power over Ethernet where needed, reducing the need for separate power supplies. The module keeps the physical footprint compact and integrates with compatible Sophos systems to maintain centralized management and consistent network policies.

Suitable for

• Small office and home office (SOHO) environments needing extra gigabit and PoE ports
• Branch offices where additional wired endpoints such as IP phones or surveillance cameras must be deployed
• Wireless access point expansion where PoE simplifies installation and cabling
• Temporary or permanent installations requiring additional LAN ports without replacing core hardware

Key specifications

• Port count: 4 PoE-capable 1000Base-T ports and 4 non-PoE 1000Base-T ports
• Data rate: 1000 Mbps (Gigabit Ethernet) per port
• PoE functionality: Power over Ethernet provided on designated ports to power compatible devices
• Connector type: RJ45 copper interfaces for all ports
• Form factor: External expansion module designed to attach to compatible Sophos hardware

How to use

Install the module into a supported Sophos system according to the host device’s expansion slot instructions. After physical installation, connect Ethernet cables from endpoint devices to the module’s RJ45 ports. Configure network settings and PoE behavior through the Sophos management interface or the host device’s administration console to assign VLANs, set port speeds, and enable or limit PoE power as required. Verify link status and power delivery using the system’s monitoring tools.

Recommendations

Prioritize PoE allocation for critical devices such as IP phones, wireless access points and security cameras, and check total available PoE budget on the host device before connecting multiple powered devices. Use quality CAT5e or CAT6 cabling for reliable gigabit performance and maintain proper ventilation around the host device and module to ensure stable operation.
