The HPE Aruba CX 6000 Series is an entry-level managed access switch family designed for branch offices, midsize businesses and small enterprises. The series runs the programmable Aruba AOS-CX operating system on Aruba ASICs to provide consistent management across the Aruba CX portfolio. Models offer 12, 24 or 48 Gigabit Ethernet ports in a 1U rack form factor, up to four built-in 1GbE uplinks, and optional Power over Ethernet (up to 370 W Class 4 total) to power devices such as wireless access points and security cameras.

Advantages

The Aruba CX 6000 line delivers fully managed Layer 2 switching with static routing support, ACLs, QoS, sFlow and IPv6 compatibility while avoiding per-switch software licensing. Hardware based on Aruba ASICs provides low latency, increased packet buffering and adaptive power consumption. Multiple management options — Aruba NetEdit automation, web GUI and standard CLI — plus REST APIs enable simplified configuration, programmability and rapid network-wide changes. Fanless compact options and a choice of PoE models let you match deployment needs for quiet or power-hungry environments.

Suitable for

  • Branch office wired access
  • Small and midsize business networks
  • Wiring closets and 1U rack deployments
  • Networks requiring PoE for APs, cameras or IoT devices

Key specifications

  • Switch type: Managed L3 access switch (Aruba CX 6000 series)
  • Ports: 24 x Gigabit Ethernet (10/100/1000) RJ-45 (model example)
  • Uplinks: Up to 4 x built-in 1GbE uplinks
  • PoE: Up to 370 W Class 4 (IEEE 802.3at) total, up to 30 W per port (on PoE models)
  • Switching capacity: 56 Gbit/s (product family typical for 24-port model)
  • MAC address table: 8192 entries (typical for 24-port model)
  • Form factor: 1U rack-mount
  • Standards: IEEE 802.3, 802.3ab, 802.3ad, 802.1Q, 802.1p, 802.1s, 802.1w, 802.1D, 802.3az, 802.3x
  • Weight: ~2.6 kg (24-port model)

How to use

Install the switch in a standard 1U rack or place the compact fanless model on a shelf in a small office. Connect Gigabit Ethernet devices to the RJ-45 ports and use the built-in uplinks to connect to the aggregation or core layer. If using a PoE model, connect powered devices such as wireless APs or IP cameras to PoE-capable ports and verify available budget does not exceed the total Class 4 allocation. Manage and configure the switch via Aruba NetEdit for automation, the web GUI for a graphical workflow, or the CLI and REST APIs for scripted or programmatic tasks.

Recommendations

When deploying in environments with many powered devices, calculate the PoE budget and port power requirements in advance. Use Aruba NetEdit to apply consistent configurations across multiple Aruba CX 6000 switches and verify policy conformance after updates. For quiet office areas choose the fanless compact model; for standard rack deployments use the 1U versions.
