The LANCOM 1800EF-5G is a business-class SD-WAN gateway that combines 5G, fiber and Gigabit Ethernet interfaces to provide high-performance, highly available networking for data-intensive and business-critical applications. It supports direct FTTH connection via SFP (GPON/AON modules available separately) and connection to external modems via Gigabit Ethernet, while an integrated 5G modem provides resilient failover or mobile primary access. With LANCOM IPSec VPN and SD-WAN, up to 5 sites (optionally 25 with a license) and mobile users are securely interconnected.

How to use

Install the LANCOM 1800EF-5G in a rack or on a shelf and connect the primary access via SFP (if using fiber) or the Gigabit Ethernet port for an external modem. Insert a MicroSIM for 5G access if required and attach the external SMA antennas. Use the LANCOM Management Cloud for zero‑touch deployment to provision Auto‑VPN and Auto‑VLAN settings across branch sites. Configure SD‑WAN policies such as dynamic traffic steering, link monitoring and active/active WAN to ensure optimal routing and failover behavior.

Recommendations

For resilient site connectivity, configure at least two WAN paths (for example fiber/SFP plus 5G) and enable active/active mode with Dynamic Path Selection.
