The Alantec MB005-1 keystone module is a flat, shielded (STP) Category 6A (10Gb) RJ-45 transmission module made of stainless steel. It is intended for indoor installation in subscriber outlets and patch panels within data communication networks, including locations exposed to electromagnetic interference. Transmission characteristics have been independently tested by INTERTEK (USA). The module supports tool-less termination as well as traditional tool-based termination and is compatible with common mounting elements such as hollow patch panels, wall and floor boxes.

Advantages

The MB005-1 provides high-performance Category 6A transmission with shielding to reduce EMI impact. Tool-less termination closes the module housing onto the cable in a single motion, simultaneously sealing all eight conductors on the IDC connector and ensuring uniform clamping force; termination with a tool is also possible. The flat stainless-steel design offers durable construction and compatibility with standard keystone openings. A special mechanical design protects the module from deformation when RJ11/RJ12 plugs are inserted, and an integrated retractable dust cover protects the RJ-45 contact area. The internal wire organizer in a rhombus shape reduces conductor untwisting, improving transmission parameters.

How to use

For tool-less termination, strip the cable jacket according to standard practices, position the cable into the keystone module and press the module housing closed in a single motion until it locks; the IDC contacts will terminate all eight conductors simultaneously. If preferred, use a compatible termination tool to perform tool-based IDC termination following the tool manufacturer's instructions. Mount the assembled module into a keystone-compatible opening in a patch panel, faceplate or floor box using standard fasteners. Retract the dust cover after installation and insert the RJ-45 plug as required.

The module is intended for indoor use within structured cabling systems and should be installed following applicable cabling standards (TIA/EIA or ISO/IEC) and local regulations.
