The InLine® serial extension with 9-pin Sub-D plug to 9-pin Sub-D socket is used to extend existing serial interfaces. It is suitable for RS232, RS422 and RS485 connections between peripheral devices, data switches and PC or server systems.
Thanks to the 1:1 pin assignment, all pins are directly connected. There is no cross-wiring. This means that the signal structure of the existing connection remains unchanged.
The moulded connectors support a stable mechanical connection and are designed for regular use. The standardised 9-pin Sub D assembly allows for easy integration into existing installations.
The cable is available in several defined lengths and can be flexibly adapted to different installation requirements.

How to use

Plug the male DE-9 connector into the serial port of the PC, server, or data switch and plug the female DE-9 connector to the peripheral device's male serial connector. Ensure connectors are aligned and seated firmly; tighten any thumbscrews if present. Route the cable to avoid sharp bends and sources of electrical interference. Verify communication settings (baud rate, parity, stop bits) on both devices to match the serial interface requirements.

Recommendations

For reliable performance, avoid routing the cable parallel to high-voltage power lines and limit bends with a radius smaller than the cable manufacturer's recommended value. Use within typical RS-232 operating distances and speeds; for longer runs or higher data rates consider using appropriate converters or active repeaters.
