The InLine® serial extension with 9-pin Sub-D plug to 9-pin Sub-D socket is used to extend existing serial interfaces. It is suitable for RS232, RS422 and RS485 connections between peripheral devices, data switches and PC or server systems.
Thanks to the 1:1 pin assignment, all pins are directly connected. There is no cross-wiring. This means that the signal structure of the existing connection remains unchanged.
The moulded connectors support a stable mechanical connection and are designed for regular use. The standardised 9-pin Sub D assembly allows for easy integration into existing installations.
The cable is available in several defined lengths and can be flexibly adapted to different installation requirements.

How to use

Connect the male DE-9 plug to the serial port of the PC or server and the female DE-9 connector to the peripheral device or data switch. Ensure connectors are fully seated and, if present, secure any thumbscrews to prevent accidental disconnection. Verify serial port settings (baud rate, parity, stop bits) in the host and peripheral device to match the application requirements.

Recommendations

For reliable signal performance, avoid tight bends near the connectors and keep the cable away from strong electromagnetic sources such as unshielded power transformers or large motors. For longer runs or environments with high electrical noise, consider using shielded serial solutions or serial-over-Ethernet converters.
