Enterprise SAS SSD HP Enterprise 1.6TB 12G SFF (model 846625-001)

HP Enterprise SAS SSD 1.6TB 12G SFF is a server-grade solid-state drive designed for enterprise storage environments and high-performance servers. With 1.6 TB raw capacity and a 12 Gbps SAS interface in a small form factor, this drive provides low latency, consistent I/O performance and durability required for database, virtualization and transactional workloads. The SFF design fits systems that accept 2.5-inch SAS drives and is intended for use in rack and blade servers where sustained performance and reliability are priorities.

Advantages

This enterprise SSD combines a high-capacity 1.6 TB storage with a 12 Gbps SAS interface to deliver predictable throughput and reduced access times compared with mechanical drives. It is optimized for sustained write and read cycles typical of server workloads, and built with enterprise-grade components to support continuous operation. The small form factor conserves drive bay space while maintaining compatibility with many server platforms that accept 2.5-inch SAS drives.

Suitable for

• Database servers requiring low latency and high IOPS
• Virtualization hosts and hyperconverged infrastructure
• Transactional and OLTP workloads
• Cache tiers and tiered storage in enterprise arrays
• Rack and blade servers with 2.5" SAS bays

Key specifications

• Form factor: 2.5-inch small form factor (SFF)
• Capacity: 1.6 TB
• Interface: 12 Gbps SAS
• Intended use: enterprise/server workloads
• Optimized for: low latency and high IOPS
• Typical applications: databases, virtualization, transactional processing

How to use

Install the drive into a compatible server or storage enclosure that supports 2.5-inch SAS drives and a 12 Gbps SAS interface. Ensure the server firmware and RAID/controller firmware support enterprise SAS SSDs and configure the drive according to the storage topology (single drive, RAID or as part of a storage pool). After physical installation, initialize and format the drive within the operating system or storage controller, and include it in your backup and monitoring routines to track health and performance metrics.

Recommendations

Use this SAS SSD in environments that require sustained performance and consistent latency. Maintain up-to-date firmware on the server and controller, monitor SMART and vendor health indicators regularly, and deploy appropriate RAID levels or data protection strategies to match performance and redundancy needs.
