Fixed Blade Outdoor Knife Gerber Principle Black — Bushcraft, compact utility blade

Gerber Principle Black is a compact fixed-blade outdoor knife engineered for general bushcraft and utility tasks. The simple, rugged blade and ergonomic handle provide reliable cutting performance for carving, food preparation, cordage work and campsite chores. Its compact size and fixed-blade stability make it suitable for hikers, campers and users who need a straightforward, low-maintenance tool for wilderness use.

Advantages

The fixed blade construction delivers consistent strength and dependable control for both delicate carving and robust cutting. A compact profile reduces weight and bulk while retaining the leverage and stability of a non-folding blade. The design emphasizes ease of maintenance and durability, with a straightforward geometry that supports precise cuts and predictable performance in outdoor conditions.

Key specifications

• Fixed blade design for increased strength and stability
• Compact blade length suitable for detailed work and easy carry
• Ergonomic handle shape for a secure grip during extended use
• Blade geometry optimized for slicing and carving tasks
• Simple construction for straightforward maintenance in the field

How to use

Hold the knife with a firm, controlled grip and use the belly of the blade for slicing and food preparation, while the tip and edge are suited for carving and detail work. For cordage and general chores, apply steady, controlled strokes and avoid levering the blade sideways to prevent damage. Keep the cutting edge sharp for safer, more efficient use; hone the edge with a suitable stone or rod when needed and clean and dry the blade after wet use to reduce corrosion risk.

Recommendations

Use a proper sheath when carrying the fixed blade to ensure safe transport. Regularly inspect the handle and blade for wear, and maintain the edge with light stropping or sharpening depending on task intensity. For heavy prying or high-torque tasks, choose a tool designed for that purpose to preserve blade integrity.
