External NVMe SSD Enclosure FANTEC NVMe31-FastLock — USB 3.2 Gen 2, tool-free FastLock

FANTEC NVMe31-FastLock is an external NVMe SSD enclosure that connects via USB 3.2 Gen 2 to deliver high-speed data transfer for a single NVMe M.2 drive. The enclosure uses a tool-free FastLock mechanism that allows rapid insertion and removal of compatible M.2 NVMe SSDs without tools, making it practical for on-the-go data transport, quick drive swaps and portable backup tasks. The compact aluminum housing provides passive heat dissipation and a durable exterior suitable for frequent handling.

Advantages

The USB 3.2 Gen 2 interface supports fast read/write transfers when paired with a high-performance NVMe M.2 SSD, reducing time for large file copies and backups. The tool-free FastLock mechanism simplifies installation and replacement of drives, eliminating the need for screws or tools and saving time for technicians and end users. The enclosure’s metal housing aids thermal management and protects the drive while offering a compact form factor that is easy to carry.

Suitable for

• Expanding laptop or desktop storage with an external NVMe M.2 SSD
• Portable backups and large media transfers between computers
• Temporary usage of replacement NVMe drives for diagnostics or data recovery
• Fast external storage for video editing, content creation, and software projects

Key specifications

• Interface: USB 3.2 Gen 2 (up to 10 Gbps)
• Drive compatibility: single M.2 NVMe (PCIe) SSD
• Mounting: tool-free FastLock mechanism for quick installation
• Enclosure material: metal housing for passive heat dissipation
• Form factor: compact, pocket-sized external enclosure
• Power: bus-powered via USB connection (no external power adapter required)

How to use

Open the enclosure using the FastLock mechanism, insert a compatible M.2 NVMe SSD into the M.2 slot and secure it according to the enclosure’s tool-free locking procedure. Connect the enclosure to a host computer using a USB 3.2 Gen 2 capable cable and port. The drive should be recognized by the operating system; if necessary, initialize, partition or format the drive through the host system’s disk management tools before first use. Safely eject the device from the operating system before disconnecting to avoid data loss.

Recommendations

For optimal performance, use with a host system that supports USB 3.2 Gen 2 and an NVMe M.2 SSD with high sequential read/write speeds. Allow adequate airflow around the metal enclosure during sustained heavy transfers to assist passive cooling. Regularly back up important data and use the operating system’s safe-eject procedure before removing the enclosure.
