Stepped drill bits feature common diameter steps and a spud tip to drill a range of hole sizes without pre-drilling, including in thin sheets; the design includes an edge-breaker for burr-free results. The routing drill bit serves for drilling and milling tasks such as creating elongated holes and enlarging existing holes. The set is supplied in a blister storage bag.

How to use

Select the appropriate stepped drill bit for the target diameter and secure the workpiece. Use a drill with suitable speed for HSS tools and the material being drilled; apply steady feed pressure and start drilling with the spud tip to expand the hole through successive steps. For elongated or enlarged holes, switch to the Ø 6 mm routing drill bit and use controlled lateral movement or incremental passes to achieve the required shape and size. Keep the drill perpendicular where straight holes are needed and clear chips regularly.

Recommendations

Use cutting lubricant when drilling harder steels, avoid excessive speed to prevent overheating, and secure thin sheets with clamps to reduce vibration. Inspect bits for wear before use and replace when cutting performance declines.
