The VIOFO A229 PLUS 2CH is an advanced video recorder that offers 2K front and rear recording. It uses dual Sony STARVIS 2 sensors, HDR, high-speed 5GHz Wi-Fi connection and intelligent voice control. It allows seamless downloading of recordings to your phone via USB-C cable, and the built-in Quad-Mode GPS module takes care of positioning accuracy. The device supports parking modes with event detection, time-lapse and low bit rate recording, and with a built-in G-sensor it automatically protects recordings in case of a collision.

The A229 Plus is equipped with two advanced cameras using the latest Sony STARVIS 2 technology, enabling high-quality 2K Quad HD recording from the front and rear of the vehicle. It provides excellent video quality, capturing every detail around the clock - both day and night.

Dual Sony STARVIS 2 sensors

The A229 Plus is the first video recorder on the market to use two Sony STARVIS 2 IMX675 sensors, which offer 2.5 times wider dynamic range and higher light sensitivity compared to its predecessor. As a result, images are much less noisy and free of motion blur regardless of outdoor conditions.

HDR for front and rear cameras

Using two Sony STARVIS 2 IMX675 sensors, the A229 Plus offers excellent visibility in all weather and lighting conditions. Each recording is enhanced with a wider dynamic range, capturing more detail in the bright and dark areas of the frame. Flagship sensors combined with advanced HDR technology balance the very bright and dark portions of the image, enabling accurate reproduction of 2K details recorded at night, including clear recording of license plates in motion - from both the front and rear cameras.

Intelligent voice control and notifications

The A229 Plus offers advanced voice control, allowing you to start and stop recording, take pictures or turn Wi-Fi on or off with simple voice commands (available in several languages: English, Chinese, Russian and Japanese). The camera also clearly notifies you of changes in settings or memory card errors, allowing you to concentrate fully on driving.

Extremely fast Wi-Fi connection

The A229 Plus features an enhanced 5 GHz Wi-Fi connectivity module that provides much faster data transfer, ensuring smooth viewing, downloading and sharing of recordings.

Fast downloads to your phone

The video recorder supports seamless connectivity to a smartphone via a USB 2.0 Type-C to Type-C cable, enabling ultra-fast photo and video downloads (speeds of up to 20 MB/s for iPhone 15). This direct connection also facilitates firmware updates, ensuring access to the latest features and best performance. Note: It is recommended to use a USB2.0 Type-C to Type-C cable and make sure your phone supports a 5V/2A power supply. This data transfer method is compatible with the iPhone 15 series and newer versions of Android smartphones.

The VIOFO A229 PLUS 2CH offers three functions that will surprise you with their advantages. Auto Event Detection automatically starts recording when it detects objects in motion, and also records footage 15 seconds before and 30 seconds after the event is detected. Time Lapse Recording lets you record video without sound at adjustable rates (1 / 2 / 3 / 5 / 10 fps), saving space and energy. With the new super night vision function, visibility is even clearer in low light. Low Bitrate Recording allows continuous recording in small files along with audio to save more space on the MicroSD card.

Ultra-precise GPS

The A229 Plus features a state-of-the-art quad-band (Quad-Mode) GPS module that supports GPS, BEIDOU, GALILEO and GLONASS, greatly improving positioning accuracy and stability. It provides detailed location, speed and time data when playing back recordings in a dedicated VIOFO application or on a computer. Please note that in order to playback recordings in the VIOFO app and open the GPS map at the same time, you must first download the video to the selected device.

Loop recording and automatic file protection

The A229 Plus supports seamless loop recording and overwrites the oldest recordings when it runs out of space. With a built-in G-sensor, the camera will automatically secure video in the event of a collision or accident, preserving a full picture of the event.

How to use

Mount the front camera on the windshield behind the rear-view mirror and attach the rear camera to the rear window according to the supplied installation guide. Insert a compatible high-endurance microSD card with sufficient capacity, power the unit from the vehicle’s accessory socket or a hardwire kit, and configure date/time, GPS, and WiFi settings via the companion app or device menu. During driving the device records continuously in loop mode; after parking, the parking mode monitors for motion or impacts and saves event files. Use the WiFi connection to download clips to a smartphone or remove the memory card for transfer to a computer.

Recommendations

For optimal results, use a Class 10 or UHS-I high-endurance microSD card, position the front camera to minimize windshield obstructions, periodically check firmware updates from the manufacturer, and review recorded event files after incidents to ensure GPS and time stamps are accurate.
