Dahua IP dome camera IPC-HDW3849HP-AS-PV — 4K (3840×2160), 2.8 mm lens, ceiling mount, indoor/outdoor, wired

Dahua IPC-HDW3849HP-AS-PV is a wired IP dome camera delivering 4K (3840×2160) resolution with a 2.8 mm fixed lens and a wide 107° horizontal field of view. Designed for ceiling mounting, the camera supports both indoor and outdoor installation and provides reliable wired Ethernet connectivity. Equipped with a 1/2.8" CMOS sensor and sensitive low-light performance (minimum 0.007 lx), the unit captures detailed video at up to 30 fps in compatible settings. Built-in illumination and IP67 protection make this dome suitable for varied lighting and weather conditions while integrated audio I/O and alarm linkage expand monitoring capabilities.

Advantages

The camera offers high-resolution 8MP imaging with advanced video compression (H.265/H.264 variants) to balance image quality and storage efficiency. Wide dynamic range, 3D noise reduction and WDR help preserve image detail in scenes with strong contrast. Intelligent detection functions including intrusion, tripwire, and classification of human and vehicle targets reduce false alarms. The device supports local storage via Micro SD (up to 256 GB), PoE or 12V DC power options, and provides integrated microphone and speaker with sound-and-light alarm linkage for on-site deterrence.

Suitable for

• Retail stores and shop floors requiring detailed wide-angle coverage
• Office ceilings and reception areas for general surveillance
• Outdoor building entrances and parking areas where weather resistance is needed
• Warehouses and corridors that benefit from high-resolution imaging and motion detection

How to use

Mount the dome camera to a stable ceiling surface using the appropriate hardware and ensure the camera is positioned to cover the desired area with its 107° view. Connect the camera to an Ethernet network for power and data if using PoE, or supply 12V DC if PoE is unavailable. Configure video settings — resolution, frame rate and compression — via the Dahua management interface or compatible NVR to match bandwidth and storage requirements. Enable intelligent detection rules and set alarm linkage, audio prompts or recording schedules as required. Insert a supported Micro SD card for local recording if needed and verify night illumination performance during low-light conditions.

Recommendations

Place the camera at a height and angle that minimizes obstructions and maximizes the covered area; avoid pointing directly at strong light sources to reduce glare. For extended retention and efficient bandwidth use, enable Smart H.265+ and adjust ROI settings. Regularly check firmware updates, test alarm linkage (sound and light) and inspect seals for outdoor installations to maintain IP67 protection.
