The Katadyn 8020859 Camping Water Filter (BeFree Gravity 6L) is a lightweight, foldable gravity filter system designed to provide safe drinking water outdoors. The unit has a 6‑liter bladder and a hollow fiber EZ‑Clean Membrane™ with 0.1 micron pore size that removes bacteria, cysts and sediment. The system flows by gravity at rates up to 2 L/min and includes a water level indicator window, carrying strap and quick‑release output hose with an automatic flow‑stop. Depending on source water quality, the EZ‑Clean membrane can treat up to approximately 1000 L before more intensive maintenance is needed. Filtered water can be dispensed directly into a container, bottle or hydration bladder using the included quick‑connect fittings.

How to use

Fill the collapsible bladder with untreated surface or tap water and close the cap. Hang the filled bladder from a suitable support using the carrying strap so gravity provides flow. Connect the output hose to the receiving container, bottle or hydration bladder using the quick‑connect fittings. Open the valve to allow filtered water to flow; the automatic flow‑stop prevents leakage when disconnecting. To clean the EZ‑Clean membrane in the field, shake or swish the bladder and membrane in clean water to dislodge trapped particles. For storage, drain and dry the system according to manufacturer guidance.

Recommendations

Use the system with visibly clear or moderately turbid water when possible to prolong membrane life; pre‑filter highly turbid water if available. Store filtered water in containers with small openings to avoid recontamination and, if not consumed the same day, treat stored water with preservative tablets such as micropur according to the tablet instructions.
