Scarpa Instinct VSR climbing shoes - black/azure size: 45

Boulderers and sport climbers who demand precision on steep, technical terrain will find the SCARPA Instinct VSR an indispensable tool. Built on the aggressive FQ last, this shoe excels on overhanging rock and micro-edges, where its downturned profile and asymmetric shape channel power directly to the big toe. The black and azure microfiber upper houses a Bi-Tension active rand system that keeps the foot locked in place, while the Vibram XS Grip 2 sole—just 3.5 mm thick—delivers exceptional friction and sensitivity. A dual Velcro strap closure allows quick on/off and a customizable fit, making it a favorite among serious climbers who need both performance and convenience.

Why choose it

The Instinct VSR is renowned for its blend of sensitivity and support. The Vibram XS Grip 2 rubber offers unmatched grip on volumes and smears, while the Flexan midsole provides enough stiffness for edging without sacrificing feedback. The Bi-Tension rand actively pulls the heel into the shoe, reducing dead space and enhancing precision on heel hooks. The dual Velcro straps make it easy to slip on and off between attempts, a crucial feature for boulderers who value efficiency at the crag.

Ideal use cases

• Steep bouldering on overhangs and roofs
• Sport climbing on technical, vertical to overhanging routes
• Micro-edging on small footholds
• Indoor climbing and competitions

Good to know

The Instinct VSR is unlined, which means it will stretch slightly over time. Many climbers choose a snug fit for maximum performance, but it's recommended to try them on if possible. The shoe is handmade in Italy, ensuring high-quality construction and attention to detail. For care, allow the shoes to air dry away from direct heat and avoid leaving them in hot cars, as excessive heat can damage the rubber and adhesives.
