40 Gigabit Ethernet over a mere half-meter of passive copper — the BlueOptics BlueLAN DAC QSFP cable delivers full 40Gbps throughput with zero power draw and sub-microsecond latency, making it the leanest link in your high-density rack.

Overview

Engineered as a direct-attach twinax assembly, this cable connects QSFP ports on Ruckus switches, servers, and storage arrays without the cost or complexity of optical transceivers. It arrives pre-coded for Ruckus compatibility, so it is recognised instantly by E40G-QSFP-C-0501 platforms and other QSFP 40GbE gear. The 30 AWG copper conductors are tuned to 100 Ohm differential impedance, ensuring clean signal integrity across the 0.5 m span. A low-smoke zero-halogen jacket adds safety in dense data centres, while the passive design means no heat, no firmware, and nothing to fail.

What stands out

  • 40 Gbps line rate per QSFP port — ideal for server-to-switch and switch-to-switch aggregation.
  • Passive copper construction: 0 W power consumption and no active components to manage.
  • Pre-coded for Ruckus E40G-QSFP-C-0501 and compatible QSFP 40GbE ports — plug and play.
  • LSZH jacket meets low-smoke, low-toxicity requirements for modern data centres.
  • Hot-swappable and compliant with SFF-8436 QSFP MSA for broad interoperability.

Technical details

  • Connector type (both ends): QSFP (Quad Small Form-factor Pluggable)
  • Data rate: 40 Gigabit Ethernet (40GbE)
  • Cable length: 0.5 m (50 cm)
  • Cable material: Copper, 30 AWG twinax
  • Impedance: 100 Ohm differential
  • Jacket material: LSZH (Low Smoke Zero Halogen)
  • Power consumption: 0 W (passive)
  • Operating temperature: 0°C to 70°C (32°F to 158°F)
  • Compliance: SFF-8436 (QSFP MSA)
  • Application: Data centre, network switches, servers, storage

Our verdict

For short-reach 40GbE links inside a rack, this BlueOptics DAC is the no-nonsense choice: it eliminates transceiver costs, reduces latency, and simply works with Ruckus hardware. The 0.5 m length keeps cable management tidy, and the passive design means one less thing to monitor.
