Battery powered camping lantern Black Diamond Apollo

The Black Diamond Apollo is a battery powered camping lantern that produces up to 225 lumens of adjustable, glare-free LED light. Designed for outdoor use, it combines a lightweight build with practical features: folding legs for stable tabletop placement, a collapsible double-hook loop for hanging in tents or from branches, and a USB port to charge handheld electronics. The lantern accepts AA batteries as well as an internal rechargeable lithium-ion pack, and provides a power meter to indicate remaining charge for both battery types.

Advantages

The Apollo’s 225-lumen output delivers bright, even illumination while LED technology ensures long runtime and efficient energy use. Its dual power options—standard AA cells or the internal rechargeable battery—offer flexibility for extended trips or emergency use. The lightweight construction and folding legs make it easy to carry and position, and the external USB port enables on-the-go charging of small devices. Additional modes such as dimming and strobe increase versatility for different lighting needs.

Suitable for

• Illuminating tents and shelters during camping or backpacking
• Providing task light for cooking, reading, and gear organisation
• Emergency household lighting during power outages
• Hanging in campsites, porches, or vehicles for area lighting

Key specifications

• Maximum luminous flux: 225 lumens
• Power sources: AA batteries or internal rechargeable lithium-ion battery
• Weight: approximately 280 g (lightweight for portable use)
• Lighting modes: adjustable dimming, strobe
• Charging: USB port for device charging and internal battery recharge capability
• Design features: folding legs for stable placement and collapsible double-hook loop for hanging
• Indicator: power meter for both alkaline and internal battery status

How to use

Place the lantern on a flat surface using the folding legs or hang it using the collapsible double-hook loop to achieve overhead lighting. Select the desired brightness with the control to switch between full output, dimmed settings and strobe mode. Use AA batteries if you need quick replacement power in the field, or recharge the internal lithium-ion battery via USB before your trip. The external USB port can be used to charge small handheld electronics when the lantern has sufficient charge.

Recommendations

For best runtime, use high-quality alkaline AA batteries when an external power source is not available, and recharge the internal battery between trips. Position the lantern at a moderate height inside a tent to maximise even light distribution and reduce glare. Monitor the power meter to avoid unexpected shutdowns and switch to lower brightness when conserving power or charging devices from the USB port.
