The Ansmann Powerline Vario X USB is a compact, travel-friendly battery charger designed to charge a wide range of rechargeable batteries: 3.6V/3.7V or 7.2V/7.4V Li‑Ion/Li‑Po packs and pairs of 1.2V NiMH AA or AAA cells. Movable contacts adapt to different pack shapes and sizes, and the USB input allows operation from any USB power source such as a mains USB adapter, car adapter or powerbank.

How to use

Connect the Powerline Vario X to a suitable USB power source (mains USB adapter, car USB port or powerbank). Adjust the movable contacts so they make firm contact with the poles of the battery pack or insert two NiMH cells in the designated positions. The charger will automatically detect voltage and polarity; charging will begin and progress is shown on the LCD in 25% increments. When charging of NiMH cells is complete, the charger will switch to pulse maintenance mode.

Recommendations

Use a USB power source with at least 1 A output. Avoid charging damaged or swollen Li‑Ion/Li‑Po packs. For long storage, keep NiMH cells charged periodically using the charger’s maintenance function and disconnect the charger once charging is finished if not required for maintenance.
