Large format inkjet printer Canon imagePROGRAF TC-21M — colour, 2400 x 1200 DPI, A1, Wi‑Fi, Ethernet, 1 GB storage

The Canon imagePROGRAF TC-21M is a compact 24-inch large-format inkjet printer with integrated A4 flatbed scanner, designed for small offices and workspaces in architecture, engineering and construction (AEC), retail, hospitality and education. It delivers colour prints up to A1 size from roll or cut-sheet media, supports Wi‑Fi, Ethernet and USB connectivity, and includes 1 GB internal storage for storing jobs and templates. The device uses four pigment-based inks (Black, Cyan, Magenta, Yellow) and prints at up to 2400 x 1200 DPI, offering high-detail output for CAD drawings, posters and marketing materials.

Advantages

The TC-21M combines large-format printing, copying and scanning in a single desktop unit to save space while expanding functionality. Its built-in A4 flatbed scanner enables copying, enlarging and repeating physical originals without requiring source image files. High-resolution pigment inks with refined image processing deliver denser colours and sharper detail compared with the previous model, while a shaftless roll holder, tiltable control panel and automatic sheet feeder simplify setup and daily operation. The printer is designed with sustainability in mind, featuring reduced noise, recyclable ink bottles and a high energy-efficiency rating.

Suitable for

• Printing CAD drawings and technical plans up to A1/A0 scale
• Producing posters, banners and point-of-sale materials
• Creating labels, envelopes and smaller printed items from enlarged or reduced originals
• Small offices, retail counters, hospitality desks and classrooms with limited space

When it may not be suitable

Because the scanner is an A4 flatbed, scanning very large originals requires multiple scans and assembly if you need full-size scanned files; this workflow may not suit users who require single-pass large-format scanning. Also, while the TC-21M handles many media types and sizes, users needing specialised wide-format photo finishes or higher-capacity industrial production may require a larger dedicated wide-format device.

Key specifications

• Printing technology: Inkjet, pigment inks
• Maximum print resolution: 2400 x 1200 DPI
• Supported media: Roll and cut-sheet, ISO A-series up to A1 (prints enlargable to A0)
• Colour set: Black, Cyan, Magenta, Yellow
• Built-in scanner: A4 flatbed colour CIS scanning (up to 1200 x 2400 DPI)
• Connectivity: USB, Ethernet LAN, Wi‑Fi
• Internal storage: 1 GB
• Noise: reduced operation noise suitable for quiet environments

How to use

Load roll or cut-sheet media into the shaftless roll holder or auto-sheet feeder, use the tiltable control panel to select print, copy or scan functions, and choose job settings from the touchscreen or connected PC. To copy or enlarge a physical original, place it on the A4 flatbed, set the desired enlargement ratio and print; for posters larger than A4, scan multiple sections and use the printer’s image repeat/enlarge features to assemble a larger print. You can also print directly from a USB memory device without a PC, and store frequently used jobs in the internal 1 GB storage for quick recall.

What to consider before purchase

• Scanner size: built-in flatbed supports A4 originals only — large originals require multiple scans
• Intended volume: suitable for small office or departmental use rather than high-volume industrial production
• Media needs: supports roll and cut-sheet media up to A1; check compatibility for specialty photo or heavy stock
• Space and noise: compact footprint and reduced noise make it suitable for shared workspaces

Recommendations

For best results with CAD prints and posters, use high-quality roll media and select the 2400 x 1200 DPI mode. When enlarging or creating multi-panel posters from A4 originals, ensure precise registration by scanning with overlapping margins and use the printer’s layout tools to align panels before printing.
